Cafe Milchhausl: A Hidden Gem in the Hills

Perched on the charming hills of Pfronten, Cafe Milchhausl is not just a cafe; it’s an experience that promises both breathtaking views and delightful culinary offerings. Nestled at Kienbergstraße 54, this quaint spot beckons those willing to take a scenic hike to relish its traditional German cuisine.

Your journey to the cafe begins with a trek—do heed the advice of previous visitors and park at the bottom of the hill. Despite the slightly challenging ascent, the reward is utterly worthwhile. As remarked by Daniel Idoine, the trip up might be daunting for some, but the stunning vistas and endearing goats you'll encounter along the way is a charm that adds to the overall experience.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by a cozy ambiance that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comforts. The cafe boasts a menu filled with traditional dishes, among which the Kaiserschmarren is a standout that has earned high praise from diners like Lisa-Marie Hofmeister, who declared it the "absolute best outside of Austria!" You can also indulge in a hearty Vesperplatte—a platter filled with local specialties that’s perfect for sharing after your hike.

As the reviews suggest, significant care has been taken in providing not just good food but excellent service too. The friendly staff enhances the dining experience, making you feel welcome and valued as a guest. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet vibrant—you can enjoy your meal beside a cozy fireplace in winter, with a panoramic view stretching all the way to the majestic Zugspitze.

If you’re visiting during the warmer months, savor the fresh buttermilk, a local delight that complements the rich flavors of the traditional dishes. According to IvCo Rt, the ambiance and the available dishes make the climb worthwhile, assuring visitors of a rewarding dining experience.

Cafe Milchhausl isn't just about the food; it’s about creating memories amidst nature's beauty. As patrons like Harry Zabel have noted, the way up is certainly rewarding, not only for the splendid views but also for the joy of being surrounded by friendly service and delightful culinary tastes.

So, if you're looking to escape the bustle of everyday life and treat yourself to a meal that delights both the palate and the spirit, make your way to Cafe Milchhausl. Just remember to take that uphill walk—it’s all part of the experience!

Don't follow the GPS to the door! Park your car at the bottom of the hill as everybody has to walk up the hill to get to the cafe. So it's not particularly barrier free but worth it if you come. Nice view, cute goats, traditional food at decent prices and great service. It wasn't particularly busy when we arrived at lunch time during summer but it might be best to call before making the hike up to make sure if your reservation or if there's a place free.

Absolut Empehlenswert, trotz steilem Aufstieg
